New Suzuki GSX-R1000 won’t be here until next December.
For anyone hanging out for the new Suzuki GSX-R1000 – there’ll be a long wait.
Suzuki Australia has announced a “tentative” Australian release date of December 2016 for the new Suzuki GSX-R1000.
The bike was unveiled at the EICMA show in Milan in November and always had the “concept” tag attached to it, but it was hoped the heavily updated bike would be available sooner rather than later.
The new flagship sports bike will come with a swag of new technology including selectable engine modes, variable valve timing, launch control, a ten level traction control system, bi-directional quick shifter and ABS.
All the electronic systems are controlled from a very comprehensive instrument cluster centred around a new LCD display.
All that technology, along with the latest specification suspension from Showa and brakes by Brembo are sure to help Suzuki catch up to the competition, but the inclusion of variable valve timing is what should set the bike apart from the current 1000cc sports bikes.
Will it be too late? It’s been a long time since we’ve seen an all new GSX-R1000 and it’s long overdue, but true Suzuki fans will say it will be well worth the wait.
