The Ducati XDiavel S has been awarded a prestigous Red Dot Best of the Best award.

The Ducati XDiavel S muscle cruiser has been awarded the prestigious “Red Dot Award: Best of the Best” in the “Product Design” category.

Although the winners won’t be officially announced on the Red Dot website until the Gala Presentation, Ducati has jumped the gun announcing the win though a news release on its website.

Ducati says the award shows how a motorcycle can be a style, innovation and performance icon – all in one.

In creating the bike, Ducati had to take it’s performance heritage and blend it with traditional cruiser design principles.

The result is a cruiser that has handling and performance more in line with what you’d expect from a sports bike.

It’s not the first time Ducati has won this award either, the 1199 Panigale was awarded in 2013.

Other previous winners of a Red Dot include Porsche, Bosch and Ferrari, and the BMW R 1200 R was awarded for motorcycle design last year.

The Red Dot awards have been operating since 1955, and winning products are chosen on their use of design and innovation by a jury of 40 recognised experts from around the world.

The jury looked at over 5,000 products during this year’s judging process.

The awards will be presented on the 4th July at the Aalto Theatre in Essen, Germany and will be attended by leading international design exponents.
