NSW Allows the Use of European Standard Helmets.
The NSW Minister for Roads and Ports, Duncan Gay, has followed through on his promise to change legislation and allow the use of European standard helmets in the state.
The Minister had previously said that when the Federal Government revoked the law that had forbidden ECE (European standard) approved helmets to be imported and sold in Australia, the NSW Government would respond.
And they did very quickly. The Federal Government made the change on the 26th November (full coverage here) and the NSW legislation change became effective on the 11th December.
NSW is the latest Australian state to allow for the use of European standard helmets.
This brings NSW into line with Queensland, Victoria and the Northern Territory, and the remaining states are now expected to follow.
