Motorcycle Life is reminding owners of BMW R 1200 GS and R 1200 GSA models that the company has officially issued a recall notice for the bikes due to a fork issue.
The recall comes after many owners have complained for some time about persistent fork issues.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission are overseeing the recall which affects the fixed fork tube, causing preliminary damage during high stress.
The issue affects model sold between August 2013 and June 2017.
Extended usage under stress may cause the top seal plug in the fork tube to loosen thus leaking oil or may become completely loose if subjected to more high stress.
This fault could lead to increasingly imprecise rideability and ultimately pose a hazard to the rider or other road users.
Owners will be contacted by BMW Group Australia or BMW Motorrad, or can contact a dealer themselves to organise for an inspection and repair.
For further information consumers can also contact BMW Group Australia via the BMW Group Australia website: http://www.bmw.com.au or contact the Interaction Centre on freecall: 1800 813 299.
