Renowned motorcycle customiser Roland Sands has ridden an Indian FTR750 flat track racer off the stage and into the crowd at the Sturgis Rally in South Dakota.
Sands was unveiling the all new FTR750 to the crowd at the Buffalo Chip Campground.
He rode onto the stage and some reports suggest he was trying to perform a burnout for the crowd when it all went wrong.
Four people were injured and treated at the scene and later taken to hospital.
Apart from the damage to the ego, no details are available of Sands’ injuries.
The FTR750 is a purpose built flat track racer and does not have a front brake.
The riding position is also different as the footpegs are set in different places each side to make the left turns easier, and the bike has a race shift gearbox (one up/four down).
