If you love riding but have things go wrong – like messing up in corners, getting cut off by cars or you just feel like you’re lacking in confidence – then come and spend a day with us and we’ll work directly with you to improve your skills, confidence and your enjoyment of riding motorbikes.
We’ve run SMART Rider now for over 3 years, so it’s time to try something new. Something different. Same great content and training, but a different format and new roads to explore.
And it’s still only $145 for the full day.
We’ll meet in the carpark at the Bicentennial Centre in Nerang, and head out through Maudsland and the cane fields to Jacobs Well where we will run through a bit of classroom stuff. Then we’ll take you back over Tamborine, through Canungra and over Beechmont to finish the day.
All the way our team will be watching and coaching you.
This course is the obvious choice if you want to be a better road rider, because we’re going to teach you how to deal with situations and hazards in the real world.
And the SMART Rider course is the only course that has ever been selected and supported by both Queensland government and the Australian Road Safety Foundation.
Registration is a must do, so fill out the form below or give us a call on 1300 961 335.
MORE ABOUT THE COURSE …..
Whether you’ve been riding for a while, you’re just brand new or coming back to riding after a long break, the SMART Rider 1 – Roadcraft Training Course will help you to become a better rider and enjoy your riding more.
Motorcycling should be fun, but many riders find they have close calls (or worse), and some just don’t feel comfortable or confident enough to enjoy their riding experience.
For many years there has not been a course dedicated to helping riders improve their road skills beyond the basics we now teach in mandatory licensing courses. And whilst there are many “Advanced” rider training courses available (many of them VERY good) these courses are normally provided in a race track environment.
Unfortunately, studies have shown that many of these track based courses have had little or no impact on reducing motorcycle crashes, fatalities and injuries on our roads. And let’s face it, many riders are intimidated by the thought of going fast on a race track, or just not interested in the experience at all!
That’s why we created this unique program.
The SMART Rider 1 – Roadcraft Training Course is a full day training course run in the environment where riders spend most of their time – public roads. And it’s designed to improve your skills regardless of your current level of experience!
We’ll take you through a classroom session where we will cover road craft, reaction and braking distances, and better cornering lines. We’ll give you strategies to improve your observation and anticipation skills, and we’ll teach you how to identify and deal with hazards on the road.
Then we’ll take you through a practical session where we will show you how to improve your control of the bike simply by applying some changes to your posture. We’ll also help you understand and improve your cornering skills and braking technique.
Slow speed skills a problem? No worries, we can help with that too!
And then we’ll take you on a mentored road ride – about 100 to 120 km – to pull it all together. To ensure you get the maximum benefit from the mentored road ride, numbers will be limited to a student to instructor ratio of 6:1.
The course is being run by highly experienced trainers who have worked in the industry for many years, and have operated similar programs in the past. Your team of instructors is led by Steve McDowall.
Steve has been coaching riders for 16 years and is a Senior Q-Ride Accredited Trainer with 10 years experience in training and licensing riders. He has also contributed to various road safety projects, including the successful community based MATES program that operated on the Gold Coast from 2008 to 2012.
What can you expect by attending this course?
- For new and lesser experienced riders the course will expand on the concepts you were taught when getting your motorcycle licence, improve your ability to recognise hazards and give you practical skills to avoid them.
- Experienced riders will find the course is an economical way to update and refresh your riding skills.
- And for those riders who have taken a long break from riding, this is the perfect course to get you comfortable on a motorbike again.
The SMART Rider 1 – Roadcraft Training Course will help all riders to identify risks, give you strategies to avoid them and to make better decisions on the road.
Decisions that will make your riding far more enjoyable … and help to keep you safe.
