Steve McDowall
Steve is an accredited rider trainer with over 12 years experience as a safety consultant and coach, and is often sought out as an advisor to government and private companies.
He has spent over 30 years around motorcycles, and was involved in racing as a competitor and race official (back in the days of Wayne Gardner, Mick Doohan and the Castrol 6 Hour).
Steve has also been the motorcycle presenter on Behind the Wheel, Australia’s leading motoring radio show, for the last 6 years and brings that extensive media experience to Motorcycle Life.
Christophe Barriere-Varju
Born in France, raised in the Ivory Coast (West Africa), before completing his studies in the United States, Christophe Barriere-Varju is now Australian. Now we can understand the look he gives when his accent led us to ask “Where are you from?” — and his answer “Well maybe you can help me find out?”
Christophe led a life most of us thought it would only be possible in a Hollywood production. He grew up with a chimpanzee while in Africa and was known for his racing, motorcycle racing! He once competed in front of 220,000 spectators cheering his name, that is four big stadiums folks.
Without a helmet on, Christophe holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Triple Major MBA in Finance, New Venture Management and Supply Chain from the University of San Diego. His company, BvW Global, assist Australian Government agencies and large Corporate with complex procurement tenders, negotiation and setting up performance management frameworks.
Christophe is also the main character in internationally acclaimed and multi-award film Dream Racer (www.dreamracer.tv). Dream Racer is based on the Dakar Rally that Christophe has competed in four times — the toughest and most dangerous 10,000km race on earth.
Dream Racer shows an incredible story of perseverance in the face of adversity, something we are all faced with every day. The film is so inspiring that Christophe now gives talk around the country that will for sure give you goose bumps and shake your inner self.
