A shocker of a day for many riders has seen a major reshuffle of the top placings in the 2019 Rally of Morocco.
Yesterday’s stage winner and overall leader Toby Price (Red Bull KTM) was one of the big losers of the day, dropping to 5th overall and now sits 8m:5s behind surprise leader Andrew Short (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna).
Short’s teammate Pablo Quintanilla now sits in second place with US rider Ricky Brabec (Monster Energy Honda) in third.
Only 2 minutes and 6 seconds now separates the top 3 riders going into the final day of the rally.
That’s a tight margin at the head of the field and will ensure a captivating final stage.
Navigation errors created most of the dramas today since the road book was only given to the riders 25 minutes before the start.
Matthias Walkner (Red Bull KTM) has been doing well on his return to racing after injury, but a crash today has injured his knee and he is in doubt for the final stage.
The final stage takes the riders back to Fes with 288km of liaison and a 168km special stage.
