Second place finish for Price in latest Dakar Rally stage.
Toby Price has extended his lead in the motorcycle category of the Dakar Rally with a second place in today’s 11th Stage.
French rider Antoine Meo took out the stage win and Stefan Svitko, now Toby’s closest rival, finished 7th over 12 minutes behind the leaders. Paulo Goncalves who was seen as the main challenger to Toby earlier in the rally has withdrawn after another crash.
With two stages remaining all hopes are with Toby to take that historic first win for an Australian.
Price is still remaining reserved about his chances saying “I can’t smell victory yet, not yet. I won’t smell victory until I cross the finishing line on the last day.”
The 12th stage, the longest at a total distance of over 900km, takes competitors from San Juan to Villa Carlos Paz in Córdoba, Argentina, with the rally finishing in Rosario on Sunday morning (Australian time).
