
The first half of 2017 has been good to the Yamaha Motor Company with global net sales of ¥828 billion ($157b).
This was a 6.4% increase on the previous year, while the company also registered a record operating income of ¥82 billion ($15.5b).
In the developed markets business, net sales increased compared with the same period in the previous fiscal year thanks to increased sales of motorcycles, marine, industrial machinery, and electrically power assisted bicycles.
Sales of motorcycles are also on the rise in emerging markets helped along by sales of higher priced products, profitability improvements in the ASEAN region and structural reform in Brazil.
Net sales increased by 6.6% overall, an improvement on the 12 million motorcycles sold globally last year.
